For more than two decades, the Prostate Cancer Centre (PCC) located at the Rockyview Hospital in Calgary, has been helping shape the future of prostate cancer care in Alberta and beyond.

The future of prostate cancer care is being shaped right here in Alberta.

Many Albertans know us through our mobile outreach program the MAN VAN®, Canada’s first mobile men’s health clinic offering free PSA blood testing for the early detection of prostate cancer. But the work of the Prostate Cancer Centre extends well beyond screening. Alongside comprehensive prostate cancer care, we are expanding our services to include bladder cancer treatment, providing patients with dedicated navigation, support and specialized care. At the same time, our clinicians and researchers are working to advance what’s possible in cancer care through clinical research and innovative new treatments.

At the Prostate Cancer Centre, world-class clinicians, researchers and healthcare professionals are working every day to push the boundaries of what’s possible—from advancing research and exploring new treatments to improving care for patients today.

The work happening here has the potential to change what prostate cancer care looks like for generations to come.

Research with a track record

The PCC established its dedicated clinical research program in 1999, and it has grown into one of Canada’s leading urology research centres.

Since then, the program has completed more than 100 clinical trials, with 30 studies ongoing in 2026. This sustained growth reflects Alberta’s growing capacity to contribute to international research and gives patients access to innovative therapies that may otherwise not be available to them.

The PCC is also recognized as a leading clinical research site, consistently ranking among the top recruiting sites in North America for clinical trial enrollment. Several studies have ranked among the highest enrolling sites globally, establishing the Centre as a trusted partner for industry sponsors and research partners.

Bringing innovation to patients

Through participation in multinational clinical trials, the PCC has contributed to research that has helped establish new standards of care for prostate cancer. Our research supports advances in diagnosis, prognosis, treatment selection and personalized care—helping move promising discoveries from research settings toward the patients who need them.

For patients in Calgary and across Alberta, this can mean access to specialized clinical trials and innovative treatment options that may not otherwise be available locally.

Research and care, connected

What makes the PCC unique is the connection between research and comprehensive patient care.

Patients have access to a continuum of services that can include rapid access to urologists, treatment specialists, post-operative care, prehabilitation, pelvic floor support, fitness and wellness programs, mental health support, and resources for challenges such as incontinence and erectile function.

The PCC has also expanded its expertise into bladder cancer, supporting both men and women, with a new bladder cancer facility planned within the existing Centre.

This integrated approach creates an environment where clinical expertise, patient experience and research can inform one another, helping us better understand what patients need while contributing to the advancement of care.

A partner in the future of cancer care

As prostate cancer care continues to evolve, collaboration is essential. The PCC offers industry sponsors, pharmaceutical companies, investigators and healthcare professionals an experienced clinical research partner with a proven ability to recruit patients, participate in multinational studies and deliver high-quality clinical trial programs.

With more than 100 completed trials, 30 ongoing studies and a growing research program, the Prostate Cancer Centre is proud to be part of Alberta’s research community—and of the global effort to improve outcomes for people affected by prostate cancer.
