Women for Men’s Health Mission

More boys than girls are born every year in the Canada – but any lead in health that men start with vanishes in infancy.

Throughout their lives, women are simply healthier than men. Out of the 15 leading causes of death, men lead women in all of them except Alzheimer’s disease, which many men don’t live long enough to develop.

With our goal to lessen this discrepancy in gender health, and with the support of Calgary’s Prostate Cancer Centre (a non-profit, world-class medical centre),  we have come together to raise money that will be used to fund programs to increase awareness and to aid research in areas impacting men, including sexual health, cardiovascular health, male-specific cancers and mental health.

The need for these programs has never been more critical. However, with the economic downturn affecting so many Albertans, fundraising has also never been more challenging.  Despite the current situation, our group of determined women has decided to start 2016 with a fundraising event that will both challenge participants physically and provide exposure to an activity that can be incorporated into any healthy lifestyle.

On Saturday March 5, 2016, supporters of Women For Men’s Health will take over the YYC Cycle Spin Studio located in Marda Loop from 6:00 pm to 1:00 am.  For six hours, teams of 1 to 6 men and women will spin to raise funds and awareness and will have tonnes of fun at the same time.  We will follow the SPINATHON with a fundraising event at a local pub.

We are hoping you will support the inaugural fundraising initiative of Women For Men’s Health.  We are searching out title sponsors and prizes for participants and winners.  By becoming involved in this event, you will not only support the first event of Women For Men’s Health, you will introduce your company to up to 300 new customers.

I am happy to help! I am not good at fundraising but I am more than happy to help with setting up and any running around that is needed (‘man’ power I guess). Please let me know if there is anything I can do.
