Monsoon-like weather didn’t dampen the enthusiasm, attendance nor dollars raised at the recent Give Prostate Cancer the Boot event held during the Millarville Rodeo Aug. 4. Hosted by the Prostate Cancer Centre (PCC), the event featured up-close rodeo, a corporate cocktail reception and a good, old-fashioned barn dance starring CCMA winning artist Gord Bamford, with additional performances from Wildflower and Bobby Wills. To promote PSA testing, the Man Van was on hand. Proceeds from the event will be directed toward the purchase of a Man Van for rural Alberta. With one-in-seven men affected by prostate cancer, “Get Checked” is the mantra we should all be chanting.
