Bill Brooks, Calgary Herald

Mr. Brooks has been an active volunteer and Board member with Calgary’s Prostate Cancer Centre (PCC) for over 20 years. While not covering the social scene in the weekly pages of the Calgary Herald, Bill spends his spare time raising funds for the not-for-profit sector, with Calgary’s Prostate Cancer Centre being his top pick. The Annual Bill Brooks Prostate Cancer Benefit has, in its 19-year history, raised nearly $8.5 million for the Centre and for the development of the SAIU.

In 2018, founders Mr.Brooks and Dr. Shelly Spanner, were able to open the doors to a world-class Men’s Health Clinic at the PCC. The clinic oversees PSA testing, blood pressure, body mass, and other critical tests in an effort toward preventive health – allowing men to follow up at a clinic when needed.
