My lifetime careers included Marine Navigator, Banker and Rent-a-Car. A few months after I retired at age 65 I was diagnosed with prostate cancer. After radical surgery performed by Dr. Kevin Carlson in June 2010, my PSA has been undetectable and in April 2013 my surgeon thankfully gave me a clean bill of health.
On Valentine’s Day, 2013, I had a date with Lori Colwell, the Volunteer Coordinator at the PCC, and was hired as a volunteer Man Van driver. I regularly drive the Urban Man Van and have occasionally hosted clinics, as well as being a co-driver on the Rural Man Van. The team I volunteer with have become tremendous colleagues and I really enjoy encouraging all men over 40 to “Get Checked”.
