David arrived in Calgary in 1953 and did most of his schooling and university here. He was a high school Biology teacher and administrator for 33 years with the Calgary Board of Education. During much of that time he co-authored several biology and science textbooks.

When he retired from teaching, he joined a not-for-profit organization that develops energy and environmental resources for for Canadian schools. He was diagnosed with prostate cancer and had a prostatectomy in 2006.

Thankfully his PSA has been undetected since then … fingers crossed! He feels that raising awareness of prostate cancer is very important and is an easy transition from his teaching.
