The Man Van – ATB We Are Alberta

Father’s Day. It’s a day when we think about our dads, give them a call, or perhaps take them to a ball game. Each Father’s Day, the Okotoks Dawgs of the Western Major Baseball League play a home game at Seaman Stadium. The event usually draws upwards of 3,500 fans—pretty impressive for a community of 25,000 people. In recent years, it’s also become a Father’s Day tradition for the Dawgs to raise money and awareness for prostate cancer. “It started three years ago,” says William Gardner, Director of Promotions and Special Events for the Dawgs. “Doc Seaman, who along with his brother Don helped us build Seaman Stadium, was involved with the Prostate Cancer Centre in Calgary. Doc ended up succumbing to the disease and as a tribute to Doc, we did a ‘pass the hat’ and donated the proceeds, about $2,500, to the Prostate Cancer Centre.”
