Farm Tech 2016 - Prostate Cancer Centre

In January, the Canadian Canola Growers Association along with FarmTech, sponsored the Man Van at the FarmTech Conference in Edmonton. During this 3 day event, the Man Van provided PSA tests to 236 men, 100 receiving the test for the very first time!

Additionally, 229 men participated in the Prostate Cancer Centre’s Men’s Health Initiative, receiving blood sugar, blood pressure and body mass index measurements. It is wonderful to see so many rural men take a proactive step in maintaining their health and understand the importance of early prostate cancer detection.

In Alberta, 1 in 6 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime. When detected early, prostate cancer is one of the most successfully treated types of cancer.

The staff and volunteers at the Prostate Cancer Centre are dedicated to educating men about the importance of early detection.
