Celebration — and gratitude — were the order of the morning March 12 as supporters gathered at the Prostate Cancer Centre to accept a $1 million donation from Agrium for the Mike Wilson Active Surveillance Clinic. Readers will recall that Wilson retired as president and CEO of Agrium Dec. 31 this past year. His retirement gift will go a long way to helping men with prostate cancer — a disease that affects one in seven men. The Mike Wilson Active Surveillance Clinic will be headed up by famed urologist Dr. Eric Hyndman.

And giving thanks continued this morning as Prostate Cancer Centre executive director Pam Heard unveiled the Million Dollar Donor Wall in honour of those who have donated at least one million dollars to the world-class centre. The Metro Graphics created wall features artist likenesses of those who have generously supported the centre. Heck, even yours truly is on the wall for the $6 million raised through 16 years of Bill Brooks Prostate Cancer Benefits. And Bob Seaman and his wife Patricia Calvert-Seaman attended to honour the late great Doc Seaman, who along with W. Brett Wilson donated $5 million.
