Calgary’s infamous Bret(t)s, Bret “Hitman Hart and W. Brett Wilson are tag-teaming together to wrestle prostate cancer to the ground. Together, they will match the first $50,000 donated directly to Calgary’s Prostate Cancer during their fall “Keep it in Calgary” fundraising campaign.
“We named our fundraising campaign ‘Keep it in Calgary’ because all funds raised will stay in our community”, says Linda MacNaughton, Director of Resource & Community Development. “We know it is important for donors to know where their money is going. When you donate to Calgary’s Prostate Cancer, 100% of your gift is supporting local men.”
Calgary’s Prostate Cancer Centre receives no government funding and is supported completely by the generosity of its community. The Bret(t)’s are encouraging everyone to make sure what’s raised in Calgary, stays in Calgary.
When Bret Hart was diagnosed with prostate cancer he soon realized Calgary’s Prostate Cancer Centre is one of the best medical facilities in North America. He says, “I decided to get treated in Calgary, because doctors in the U.S. had nothing but the best things to say about what we had right here.”
Brett Wilson, a founding partner of the Southern Alberta Institute of Urology says, “When I had my first bout with prostate cancer, Calgary didn’t have that focus we have now.” When I had my second bout, I came here. It’s a privilege to help in any way I can.”
