December 6, 2021 – I want to advise our members, volunteers, and staff that I will be passing on the Acting Executive Director role and will be taking a 6 month sabbatical from my role as Board Chair.  The Board is supportive of this decision based on my need to focus on my personal health.  I recently completed major shoulder surgery and feel it is important to focus on this over the next six months.  Dr. Dushinski who is our Co-Chair will take on the Board Chair role and Amanda Baxter will step into the role of Acting Executive Director.

I want to thank everyone for their support and hard work over the last year. We have been extremely successful in serving our patients through this difficult year of COVID while also making significant advancements at the Prostate Cancer Centre so that we can enhance our patient services. I also want to thank John DeSanti, Dr. Eric Hyndman and Dr. Shelley Spaner for an exceptional demonstration of leadership, giving, and fund raising that has contributed to us exceeding our fund-raising goals.  Included with this is a special thank you to the Rance and Marilyn Fisher Foundation and the Woitas’ family for their significant gifts that have made our expanded vision into a reality. I also want to thank those groups that continue to support us and allow us to operate every year. Very specifically those individuals and companies that supported the Priddis Greens Charity Classic and Remington Charity Classic golf tournaments. My final thank you goes to Dr. Donnelly who had the foresight and vision to create this great organization and who still works tirelessly for us.  This has truly been an outstanding year.

I also want to thank the Board for their hard work and dedication along with those who have left us recently specifically: John Truswell (past Chair), Bill Brooks (Chair of Fund Development), Maryse St. Laurent (Governance and HR Committee and Audit Committee) and Pamela Heard (past Executive Director).  These people have worked tirelessly to make The Prostate Cancer Centre what it is today.
