Agrium – “Growing” support for Combines for Cures

Throughout November at Agrium, the focus on growing shifted from field to facial hair for their annual Movember fundraising campaign. In addition to supporting men’s health initiatives through the Movember Foundation, Agrium matched employee donations dollar for dollar, raising $18,910 for the Prostate Cancer Centre’s Combines for Cures program. Combines for Cures is a Prostate Cancer Centre initiative that raises funds to support prostate cancer awareness and promote the importance of early detection. The program brings the MAN VAN™ program to rural Alberta, and has provided education, awareness and baseline PSA (Prostate Specific Antigen) testing to over 4,000 Albertan men.

“Combines for Cures is near and dear to our hearts,” say Rose Lecky, Manager, Corporate Social Responsibility at Agrium. “We are a founding member of this important initiative which directly supports our farm customer. There is nothing more important that the health of our family!”

Agrium’s first annual Movember campaign was held in 2007 by a small group of engineers from Alberta and Saskatchewan. That year the team managed to raise just under $500. Since then, the campaign has grown significantly and now includes Agrium employees from across North America. The campaign provides an opportunity for employees to collaborate, have some fun, but most importantly, raise money for an important cause.

Thank you Agrium, and everyone who participated in this year’s fundraiser. We look forward to growing together in the future.
