POSITION: Manager of Resource Development and Rural Initiatives

REPORTING TO: Executive Director and Director of Community Initiatives

GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY:

The Manager of Resource Development and Combines for Cures ™– a rural awareness and fundraising initiative - is charged with responsibilities that will have a lasting impact on the success of our organization.
Under the direction of the Executive Director you will identify fundraising priorities and execute innovative fundraising strategies with ultimate responsibility for the creation, implementation, management and evaluation of a Resource Development strategy for the Centre in Calgary and rural southern Alberta.
You’ll be responsible for cultivating new relationships and nurturing industry partnership development by identifying and executing opportunities for major gifts and sponsorships. Elements of this position include developing major gifts proposals from concept to completion, securing major gifts and developing strategic fund development plans that turn ideas into results.
You will also manage and recruit the Combines for Cures rural coordinators.


Desired Skills & Experience

The successful candidate will have:
• Degree or diploma from a recognized post secondary institution in a related field;
• 3 to 4 years experience in fundraising with a proven track record of success;
• Innovation, strong interpersonal skills;
• the ability to work with a broad range of individuals including Combines for Cures rural coordinators, staff, volunteers, medical and research staff;
• excellent oral and written communication skills;
• the ability to market the Prostate Cancer Centre and its programs and sell fundraising opportunities;
• demonstrated success in motivating and managing volunteers;
• excellent organizational and analytical skills
• Demonstrated skills in the use of Microsoft Office, and GiftWorks or other CMR tool;
• Manage and steward relationships with individual and corporate donors and sponsors
• Work independently and be self-motivated in initiating contacts with potential donors and sponsors
• Develop, in conjunction with the Centre’s board, financial and non-financial goals for donations and sponsorships
• Build donors’ understanding of PCC’s vision and mission
• Provide guidance and expertise to expand Combines for Cures and collaborate with Prostate Canada to strengthen programming where appropriate

SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES:

RURAL EVENT MANAGEMENT

• Seek sponsorships for events where appropriate
• Coordinate staff and volunteer participation in planned activities to ensure success of the external events.
• Facilitate development, preparation and distribution of promotional materials for events.
• Update web information – pre & post event
• Coordinate information packages and follow-up materials for the general public, health professionals and potential donors and sponsors.

FUNDRAISING & DONOR RELATIONS
• Actively seek potential donors & fundraising opportunities
• Initiate opportunities and events to recognize sponsors and donors
• Personally develop relationships with major donors
• Help initiate annual fundraising campaign – Combines for Cures


MOBILE PSA TESTING MANAGEMENT (MAN VAN™)
• Seek opportunities for van testing locations
• develop relationships with all location managers
• Oversee all MAN VAN schedules in consultation with Man Van head nurse and Directorof Community Initiatives


Rural Coordinator
• Work with and manage Rural Coordinator


WEB
• Manage all updates and social media


IN HOUSE DUTIES
• Assist with any job that needs assistance including Rapid Access Clinics,
helping accountant, Urologists etc.
