Rapid Access 1 & 2
Rapic Access Clinic 1
The clinic provides "Rapid Access" to an urologist when there is a concern about prostate cancer. If a patient's PSA is elevated or a doctor determines an abnormal prostate this raises a concern about prostate cancer.
The Rapid Access clinic was set up as a collaborative program by Calgary urologists, the Prostate Cancer Centre and the Calgary Health Region. It is also partly financed by proceeds from the Bill Brooks Foundation. Prior to the September 2005 opening of the clinic, wait times for diagnosis were as long as three months. As a result of the clinic, these times have been reduced dramatically.
Access to this clinic is only through referrals from your family doctor to an urologist.
