Our volunteers are our most valuable resource. Many of our volunteers have experienced prostate cancer first-hand and generously share their time, insight and experience. Opportunities are available both within the Centre and in the community.

These are the opportunities for Volunteers:

 

The MAN VANTM Program

Volunteers are drivers and hosts for health testing clinics held around Calgary.
(Days/Evenings/Weekends, 4-7 hrs per shift)

Resource Centre

Volunteers who have experienced prostate cancer offer supportive, knowledgeable, and compassionate listening, and help patients access current information from materials housed in the Resource Centre.
(Weekdays, 3-4 hrs per shift)

Information Desk

Volunteers assist patients in finding their way through the Southern Alberta Institute of Urology (SAIU) and Calgary Prostate Cancer Centre.
(Weekdays, 3 hrs per shift)

Community Presentations

Volunteers share their experience and knowledge of prostate cancer with corporate and community groups.
(Days/Evenings as needed, 1-2 hrs per shift)

Special Events

Volunteers are instrumental in helping with a variety of special events organized by, and for, Calgary Prostate Cancer Centre.
(Days/Evenings/Weekends as needed, 2-6 hrs per shift)

Do I need previous volunteer experience?

No, just a willingness to make a difference!

How often do I have to volunteer?

Volunteers can volunteer once a week or as often as they’d like!

Do I have to have had prostate cancer to volunteer?

No, many of our volunteers have personal experience with prostate cancer, but there are plenty of other opportunities within our Centre.

How is it decided if and where I will volunteer?

The Volunteer Coordinator will work with you to find the best fit for your needs, and ours.

I’m not 18, can I still volunteer?

No, our volunteers must be over the age of 18.

Do I need a special drivers license to drive the MAN VAN?

No, but you do need a clean driving record.
